Rights and Reproductions
Dixon Gallery and Gardens Collections Image Usage Guidelines
Photography and Rights to Reproduction
Access to images of objects in the collection of the Dixon Gallery and Gardens and rights to reproduce those images are handled by the Registrar. To obtain photographic materials or acquire permission to reproduce images, please read the information below and contact the Registrar via the email address.
Images for Study, Personal, or Lecture use
Low-resolution JPEGs for available images are provided free of charge. JPEGs are released to you for the purposes of research, teaching and/or enjoyment only and may not be reproduced or distributed in any manner. If you receive a photograph for study, lecture, or personal use and later wish to reproduce the image, you must submit a request for rights to reproduction.
Rights to Reproduction
You may request high-resolution TIFFs to reproduce works from the collection of the Dixon Gallery and Gardens in print or electronic formats. Each request for rights to reproduction is assessed individually, and fees will be determined on a case-by-case basis. You will be asked to complete and sign an application for rights to reproduction supplied to you by the Registrar. This form serves as a contract and will specify the conditions for reproduction of imagery.
The Dixon Gallery and Gardens requires prepayment of all fees before photographs may be released.
New Photography
If an image of a work is not available or does not meet your image requirements, the Registrar will discuss with you the cost and timeline for obtaining new photography.
Copyright
The Dixon Gallery and Gardens can grant the permissions requested only to the extent of its ownership of the rights relating to the request. Certain works of art, as well as the photographs of those works of art, may be protected by copyright, trademark or related interests not owned by the Dixon Gallery and Gardens. The responsibility of ascertaining whether any such rights exist and for obtaining all other necessary permissions remains with the applicant.
