Gail has been with Memphis Zoo for 38 years as a member of the animal care team. She specializes in Carnivores – particularly bears and cats. She is the liaison for Alaska Fish and Game and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to place orphaned Grizzly bears in zoos. Her role at Memphis Zoo has expanded to Special Animal Exhibits, sustainability initiatives, and developing the Memphis Zoo Arboretum. She is involved with Monarch Watch and Pollinator Partnership organizations and is a member of the Monarch Safe program for AZA. With her help, Memphis Zoo has partnered with Overton Park Conservatory to expand pollination gardens in the North Parkway area they will share through grants.

Her love for plants and their importance parallels her animal interests. She has been a Master Gardener since 2000, a Master Flower show judge for the Federation of Garden Clubs, and recently completed the Urban Forestry Program. Her hobbies include gardening with consideration for native plants and pollinators, beekeeping, and international travel.
