Join the Dixon for a celebration of the Lunar New Year (also known as Chinese New Year) with Milan Vigil. Learn about the year of the dragon, New Year celebration customs, and practice calligraphy in the Chinese tradition with Cathy Lu. Activities and takeaways will be part of this experience.

Milan Vigil has taught Taijiquan and Wing Chun for over 30 years, including 22 years at Rhodes College. He was awarded a gold medal at the 2008 World Cup T’ai Chi Ch’uan Championship in Taipei, was a practitioner presenter at the 2009 International T’ai Chi Ch’uan Symposium at Vanderbilt, and was featured in the 2016 and 2017 Tai Chi Spirit calendars. Milan has taught English in China and has studied Mandarin Chinese in the USA, China and Taiwan. He began teaching Mandarin Chinese in the Memphis area in 2003.

Cathy Lu is originally from China and has been practicing Chinese calligraphy since she was 5 years old. Currently, she works at First Horizon Bank as a Certified Financial Planner. She is passionate about helping women feel empowered and in control of their finances. In her spare time, Cathy loves training for the St. Jude half marathon race, traveling with her husband, Dr. Espel, and playing with their dogs Jeremy and Linda.
