Talk at Two: Standing on Shoulders and Reaching Up
December 5, 2021
2:00pm - 3:00pm
Dixon Gallery and Gardens
Phillip Dotson, Professor of Art, LeMoyne-Owen College
Phil Dotson will discuss works that show his journey as a painter. Dotson's school of thought is that you are what you have been exposed to, whether you like it or not. Therefore, if you have been loved you express love, and if you were hated you express hatred. Dotson expresses the beauty and influence of African Art as well as European Art in his work. He believes that expression in art does not come from a blank life experience, but the expression of the intuitiveness of culture and the environment.
