Sarah Catmur, Venue Rental Coordinator and Dixon bride
In my 8+ years at the Dixon, I’ve seen (and worked) my fair share of weddings, including my own wedding here over five years ago. I’ve seen countless monograms and name pairings emblazoned on cups, napkins, koozies--and, for our 2020 and 2021 couples, masks. The Hughes Pavilion has been dressed up in a rainbow of colors—everything from soft pastels to rich jewel tones to neutral palettes of white and cream. I can rattle off rental chair names (chiavari, fruitwood folding, ghost….) like other people can name music’s greatest hits. I’ve met amazing couples, parents, and vendors, and hosting my own wedding here in 2016 was such a special experience—it’s been an incredible bonus being able to share both the experience of a vendor and the experience of a bride with my couples. I’ve loved being part of so many weddings here over the years and seeing our venue transform and I’d love to share a few highlights.

Balton-Jones wedding C&R | Kelly Ginn Photography
This couple was all about personal touches, and the bride and her family own and operate a local lighting and sign company, so they were in the prime position to add special backdrops and displays to make their celebration uniquely them. My favorite part of this wedding came at the end of the night when the couple had a “last dance,” just the two of them, in front of their custom-lighted heart backdrop—what a stunning photo!

Owen-Scalet wedding C&R (Emily Frazier Weddings)
I fell in love with this couple’s floral and décor, from the feathery grasses and pops of soft pink and lavender featured in their ceremony backdrop to the showstopper gold chandelier and plush lounge furniture under the reception tent. The couple and their vendors embraced the natural beauty of the Hughes Pavilion and gardens and added a little twist to make it perfect for the season and the couple.

Knose-Flanery wedding C&R (Christen Jones Photography)
This couple went through what so many couples did in 2020—planning for their big day and then *BOOM!* COVID19. After working with their wedding coordinator, we found a new date for 2021 and they continued rolling ahead with planning and designing their special day. The result was, I hope, worth the wait! The Dixon was touched with the earliest blush of spring, and their florist amped that up with beautiful floral table décor, leafy hanging centerpieces, and a stunning greenery wall inside the Hughes Pavilion. Crystal chandeliers, soft pink draping, and cozy lounge furniture pulled the rest of the look together.
