Art-to-Grow
Art to Grow is a community outreach program that reaches approximately 16,000 elementary school students in the Memphis area per year. The program offers art lessons to students within 60 miles radius of the Dixon, free of charge. In an effort to include kindergarten classes, we are now offering art at two elementary schools in Memphis, and hope to see these sessions grow. Learn more about Art-to-Grow.
Explorations
Explorations is a three-tiered art therapy program that reaches at-risk-youth with Teen Studio; adults with special needs with Exceptional Art; and for Alzheimer's patients, Reflections.
Adopt-a-School
Through the Memphis City Schools program Adopt A School, the Dixon adopted willow Oaks Elementary School. For three years we have been offering monthly art lessons to the kindergarten classes. We work closely with the teachers to make sure that what we offer matches their curriculum and supports their units of study. The Dixon provides the art instructor and all the supplies. We also bring these students to the Dixon twice a year for an interactive visit to the galleries and gardens.
